On your first point, I was talking about Flaming Metroids' bar.

Let's start from the start.

["for great justice"] - Good.
[riposte] - Damage is meh, requires Tactics, attack skill is better.
[deadly riposte] ^
[galrath slash] - A bit expensive, but there isn't much you can do about it.
[final thrust] - I'm not a fan, but I'm an adrenaline junkie so I'm biased. Good for what you've got.
[hundred blades] - It's bad, but it's the only sword elite in Prophecies. Seriously, get an axe.
[live vicariously] - STOP. Healing Prayers = bad.
[rebirth] - If you need a hard rez and are planning to wipe, then this is nice.

Quote:
SKILLS:

Strength: 4
Swordsmanship:12
Tactics:8
healing prayers 11
-Healing Prayers should be 0. Always.
-4 attribute spreads are bad. Drop HP and Tactics for 12+1+1 Sword (or better, axe or hammer) and 12+1 Strength.

Quote:
Equipment:

Deldrimor sword:
Exallted Aegis
The unique Deldrimor Sword isn't that good due to having a Sundering mod.
The unique Exalted Aegis isn't that good due to having a -5/20 mod.

Quote:
1:Templar helm of major swordsmanship: strength +1(stacking), swordmansip +2, health -35
2:Survivor templar cuirass: health+15
3:Templar guantlets of minor strength: strength +1(non stacking)
4:survivor templar leggings of minor vigor: HP+10, HP+30
5:templar boots of minor tactics: tactics +1
Helmet should be +1 to the weapon so you can get it higher without sacrificing health.

Quote:
this one works just fine for normal mode but not HM
Something working in NM doesn't justify calling something a good build. If it works in HM then it's good (for PvE, anyway). Since it doesn't work in HM, then you know you've got a bad build.

The complete collection is out on the 5th September for a bargain basement price.

I suggest you purchase it to give you access to far better sword elites, amongst other things!

Drizzitdude,

While I admire your enthusiam and firm stance on using a Sword, JUST sword, and NOTHING BUT a sword, the evidence is clear - it's time to get your hands on either an Axe or a Hammer.

As a Warrior, you have 3 Weapon Masteries available to you for a reason. I usually run a sword build, but I have all 3 campaigns as well as GW:EN. I also run Axe and Hammer builds as well, especially in areas where a non-conditional DW is a great asset, like FoW and UW.

Please consider the advice given by the posters here. We all like to see each other succeed, so it's not like we are giving you bad advice.

Scythes are also very good on a Warrior now that Warrior's Endurance isn't a stance anymore. Thats another option, and it's one of those weapons people like.

stats:

HP:560
Energy:20

SKILLS:

Strength: 4
Swordsmanship:12

[Riposte] and [Deadly Riposte] aren't as good as you think. Think about it this way, you're waiting for them to attack. Meaning you can't do any damage until they hit you. Next thing is the fact that they have to hit you. You, as a warrior, should not be heading off and attacking other frontliners unless if you're linebacking. Even then, they may not attack you.

You in PvP, should be going for casters in the back: Monks, Mesmers, Necromancers, etc. And that's not even a melee attack anymore. So basically, you're wasting two slots.

Add in without a doubt [Sever Artery] and [Gash]. Why? I'll admit that bleeding is not especially helpful, but [Gash] is very powerful. A deepwound itself is probably one of the stronger conditions in the game. The fact is that you're taking off 20% of the guys health in one blow. 20% is a lot, considering players nowadays go for at least 550+ health. Add in the extra damage, boom, that's some damage.

Bull's Strike. Bull's Strike is just pure magic. A KD, damage, all in a bundle of fun. Knock Down is a powerful tool. Add in Stonefist and it'll be a three second KD. This might not seem much, but it is enough time for them not to heal back hp and not be able to do anything, meaning YOU, can knock up some racket and maybe even kill them.

Next, I highly recommend you adding in an IAS and a cancel stance. In this case I would recommend you getting [Frenzy] and [Rush]. [Frenzy] seems to be bad as getting twice as much damage can be very heavy for your healer and may get your team wiped. But, the magic comes in at a cancel stance, in this case, [Rush]. Because you're changing stances from [Frenzy] to [Rush], you can then lose the harmful effects of [Frenzy], but also have a speed boost to catch others.

And finally, [Resurrection Signet]. For PvP, [Resurrection Signet] is probably more useful as a resurrect than others. The reason is because energy is very valuable, even to a warrior. You'll need it to power your IAS, sometimes cancel stance, and possibly other attack skills as well. Which means, that if you're spending your energy and time ressing your teammates, you may have a harder time fending off others. And also that fact that you may not need to use your res more than once. If your team is dying fast, it's most likely time to change your skills rather than changing to a hardres.

I also recommend you to try out Axe and Hammer. Sword... in Prophecies is a bit iffy. [Hundred Blades] is not... such a great skill. Especially in PvP, where players can actually move around. But hammer and axe are very powerful in PvP, and can be achieved with the skills available in Prophecies.

Though you don't have access to [Shock], you'll still be able to use [Plague Touch], which, though not arguably as powerful as [Shock], is still a great skill to get off conditions like Blindness. Here's what I use when I'm using [Plague Touch] axe in PvP.

[Eviscerate]
[Executioner's Strike]
[Disrupting Chop]
[Plague Touch]
[Bulls Strike]
[Frenzy]
[Rush]
[Resurrection Signet]

And of course, Mr. KD Hammer . As from above, KD is very powerful, and if you have the tools to make a man stay down for 5+ seconds, I'd say he's pretty much dead. Hammer by itself has some big stuff damage, and mix that with KD, boom boom. Here's a sample [Backbreaker] build.

[Backbreaker]
[Hammer Bash]
[Crushing Blow]
OPTIONAL: [Distracting Blow], [Plague Touch], [Enraging Charge]
[Bulls Strike]
[Frenzy]
[Rush]
[Resurrection Signet]

Hope this helps.

Use it at the right time to make an enemy stay on the ground for 10 seconds if you hit Bull's Strike first or 7 if you hit Backbreaker first.

@ Jam Jar

Drizzitdude is mostly playing PvE. Thanks for giving him PvP advice tho... his first post on PvP in this thread was using Riposte/Deadly Riposte/Glad's Defense. And it's nice to see <3 for the Acme WammoHammer. KD is pwn.

AW:Must use chaos axe....

SW:NO! must resist.

AW: But its so cool.

SW:RESIST RESIST! Sell the chaos axe! Lots of people buy them!

AW: NEVER!

Anyway. I have pointed out before that I should use axes and I realise this. Also When I said that the build didnt work well in hard mode I meant in hard mode in the FoW it worked fine everywhere else ( including the underworld, I hate those RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing nightmares). Also I can accept the use of an axe. But hammer is a no go. I dont like how slow it is (though i admit knocking people down is really fun). I Just recently changed my secondary to a w/ele and I am looking for those spells that add elemental damage. Mayne I could even try out being a obby tank I suppose. Ph33r the ninja. that is all.

PS tyreal can you please tell me whats wrong with the riposte moves? I like them but you dont seem to. I must be missing something so could you please fill me in? (NOTE: that was not sarcasm)

for warriors, a skill that causes alot of direct damage is better than a skill that blocks and causes a minimal amount of possible damage. Warriors shouldn't need defensive skills at all, so its better to use a completely offensive skill.

OP must be accustomed to bad PUGs. If you only knew how much damage you could deal.

Essentially, Ripostes are bad because they rely on you being hit.

As a warrior (high armour, high health target) you simply cannot rely on the AI targeting you for Ripostes to work - monsters will attack squishier targets if available, meaning that more often than not they become absolutely useless.

A standard attack skill, however, like [[power attack] or [[sun and moon slash] deals comparable damage without needing to be a target.

Yeah Warrior's endurance is the shit...
Please not ANOTEHR riposte warriors...=fail.
Yeah if you get factions they have the best sword skills for pve imo...quivering blade and dragon slash both deal huge amounts of damage and keeps your attack chain going...since you have "FGJ!" it'll be even better.
Your initial build reminds me of the build I used to run on my w/mo back in the days before even Factions...that was the accepted tank back then. But I also see why some newfags would see it and lawl. Not that I'd still use HB on my warrior

Okay, as much as I want to flame for filling nearly every warrior stereotype in one thread, from wammo with healing breeze, to the rather annoying riposte wammos in AB.....

I won't. ..... well.... any more than I already did.

SO, I offer this advice. I suggest, if you want to appear like you're helping your party, you can try and work up to getting "Save Yourselves!" and using that. It's a big party helper, and people NOTICE it. :3

Drizzit, I'm sorry for giving you an unclear picture. Riposte and Deadly Riposte *can* be useful, but generally, only for Farming builds. You don't want to take them along in a general use build for a couple of reasons, both of which were answered by Stormlord Alex and FlamingMetroid quite well (others have given answers, and they are all good, I just feel that Alex and Metroid posted in a way that allows much better understanding of the situation):

1)

^
QFT. Enemy AI prioritizes targets by AL, HP, and profession. Warriors are at the bottom of AI priority. They have too much armor, too much health, and AI favors caster-type professions as targets. Add in the fact that even if you go and aggro a mob first with your teammates out of your aggro range, as soon as they move into your aggro range, AI will recalculate/reprioritize, and then you lose aggro while the squishies become AI enemy #1.

Tactics is mostly an attribute used by Warrior secondaries. Warriors do much better with a Weapon Mastery and Strength. Check Marty's stickied Warrior Guide, it explains the choice of Strength over Tactics nicely. Back to answering you more directly, with most of your points in a Weapon and Strength, you have very few left over to invest in Tactics. Riposte and Deadly Riposte both have decent damage, but only when Tactics is at rank 10 or above.

Wow tyreal. You actually explained that quite well. I didnt know the GW AI actually was smart about who they were targeting. i just thought they kind of attacked at random or attacked whoever got there first. (makes u wonder how i beat the game huh?) BTW I am glad you could actually say this entire post with what appears to be little sarcasm or critism ( to me at least. Age probly feels like an idiot right about now).

Also In other notes I would like everyone to know that i Just said "RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO" it recently and went into an all out attack build because the fissure was pissing me off.

[build prof=W/Ele strength=13 swordsmanship=13 airmagic=6 ][for great justice][hundred blades][power attack][galrath slash][final thrust][conjure lightning][healing signet][berserker stance][/build]

I just remade my entire bar into something that seemed to me a random assortment of my favorite moves and suprisngly it worked. I didnt need to go obby tank I didnt need some crazy defensive build or an axe. i was the only warrior in my party but somehow this worked. surpised? so am I.

Wait wtf? red engine what? Is that some kind of swear censor?
